A new house was donated to the wife of Corporal Guanawardene DACL (22956), Mrs. BG Wasanthi Kumari and her daughter, under the "Anula Fernando Housing Project" launched by Seva Vanitha Unit of  the Sri Lanka Air Force today (01 June 2010).

Corporal Guanawardene DACL was killed in action at SLAF Base Anuradhapura, during the terrorist attack  on 22 October 2007.

The house warming ceremony was held with the with the presence of the Chairperson of SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit Mrs. Nelun Goonetileke at Horana.

Construction of this house was funded by “People’s Bank Corporative Banking Division” and carried out under the supervision of the Commanding Officer of  SLAF Katukurunda, Squadron Leader Chinthaka Herath. The land to build the house was donated by the Philanthropist Mr. Yasantha Karannagoda.
    
The Head of the People’s Bank Cooperate Banking Division Mrs. Chandani Warapitiya, Mr. Yasantha Karannagoda, the executive committee of SLAF SVU and the relatives of Corporal Gunawardene  were present  during the occasion.

At the end of the ceremony Chairperson of the SVU Mrs. Nelun Goonetileke presented official Plaques to the Peoples bank and Mr. Yasantha Karannagoda  appreciating the support given and also to the Commanding officer SLAF Katukurunda for the good work done within very short period of time.
