Air Force Commander Visits Air Force Base Higurakgoda

Acting Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Air Force Air Chief Marshal Roshan Gunathilake called on SLAF Base in Higurakgoda recently (10th June). He was received by Wing Commander Suresh Perera, Acting Base Commander and Wing Commander Shirley Fernando, Commanding Officer of the 25th Regiment Wing.
During the visit the Commander unveiled a life-sized model of an Mi24 attack helicopter in appreciation of the sterling contribution by No.9 Helicopter Squadron towards the success of the humanitarian operations.
Air Chief Marshal Gunathilake also declared open a new Guard Room at the air base and planted a Mango sapling to mark the occasion. He also visited the Night Vision Goggle (NVG) testing laboratory.
