On the invitation of the Chief Incumbent of the Gangaramaya Temple the Most Venerable Galaboda Gnanissara Thero, the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Kapila Jayampathy switched on the lights to illuminate the Gangarama Vesak Kalapaya on 1st May 2018, the day allocated for the Air Force.
 
The guests were accompanied to the “Seema Malakaya” from the Gangaramaya Temple in a ‘Perahara’. The lighting of the oil lamp by the distinguished guests followed the chanting of ‘Seth Pirith’ by members of the ‘Maha Sangha’. Officers and other ranks of the SLAF were present at the ceremony.
