A Bell 212 helicopter from Squadron No. 07 of SLAF Base at Hingurakgoda successfully doused a major fire this morning in Habarana.

 Using water from the Minneriya Tank in “bambi buckets”, the deployed helicopter managed to douse the raging flames within 20 consecutive shuttles. The fire which erupted in the early hours of the morning destroyed vegetation and posed a threat to the lives of people in the area before the SLAF craft brought it under control.
