Air Force Worthy Runners Up in Inter Club Rugby Sevens

SLAF went down fighting to the last whistle against CR&FC (21-17) in the Cup Championship, of the Inter Club Rugby Sevens concluded at Longden Place, yesterday.
Air Force dominated the game in the first half and scored thrice through Chanaka Chandimal (1) and Milinda Jayasinghe (2) and led 17-7 at the short whistle.
However, CR & FC scored two comeback tries in the second half. The game was close but the SLAF prevailed playing an attacking game and defending well in the later stage but missed the Cup Championship by a whisker.
Air Force ‘B’ outplayed CR & FC ‘B’ 29-12 in the Plate Championship final. Suranga Arunashantha (1), Chanaka Guneratne (1), Eraj Ratnayake (1), Sesanka Ariyaratne (1) and Prasanna Soysa scored tries for the winners. Suranga Arunashantha did the honours for the Airmen booting over two conversions.
Cheif of Defence Staff, Commander of the Air Force & President of the Sri Lanka Rugby Football Union (SLRFU) Air Chief Marshal Roshan Goonetileke graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
