Academy China Bay Wins Gold at Presidential Environmental Protection Awards 2019

Sri Lanka Air Force Academy China Bay secured the Gold Award for the Public Sector – Best Government Institution that contributes to the environment at the Presidential Environmental Awards Ceremony 2019 held at the Nelum Pokuna Theater today (29 October 2019).
The Presidential Environmental Awards is organized by the Central Environmental Authority to recognize and reward public sector organizations, industries and individuals that have demonstrated environmental friendly attitudes and who have made significant efforts towards a pollutant-free environment through sustainable utilization of the roots of the environment. Environmental protection measures of the applicants were measured meticulously by a panel of reputed judges followed by field visit during the selection process of the winners for awards. For the first time in history, the Sri Lanka Air Force after establishing its policy on environment, receives a Presidential Gold Award for Environment Protection.
The Commander of the Sri Lanka Air Force, Air Marshal Sumangala Dias attended the Awards Ceremony and the Commandant of the Air Force Academy, Air Commodore RAUP Rajapaksa accepted the award from the Chief Guest of the Ceremony, the President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, His Excellency Maithripala Sirisena.
Command Quality Assurance Officer Air Commodore LMSK Leelaratne, Officer Commanding Station Service SLAF Academy China Bay Squadron Leader RDW Jayasooriya and members of the Academy Solid Waste Management Team were also presented at the awards ceremony.
