Annual Commander’s Inspection 2010 At SLAF Station Ekala

The Chief of Defence Staff and the Commander of the Air Force, Air Chief Marshal Roshan Goonetileke, conducted the Annual Commander’s Inspection of SLAF Station Ekala yesterday (27th August 2010). The parade was commanded by the Commanding Officer, SLAF Station Ekala, Group Captain Janaka Amarasinghe to welcome the Commander to the Station premises.  
 
The 'Advanced & Specialized Trade Training School' (A & S TTS) which provides formal training for all airmen and airwoman who successfully complete their Initial Combat Training at SLAF Diyatalawa is located at this station. Further, the office of the Chief Recruiting Officer (CRO) who is responsible for recruiting Officers and others rank to the SLAF is also located within this Station.  
 
A waste management and recycling project funded by the National Environmental Authority was declared open by the Commander. This waste management and recycling system will enable the proper and systematic management of waste disposal within the station and recycling of waste material in a bid to safeguard the environment. Also a Dental unit and a Billiards room to enhance health care and recreational facilities, was also declared open during the commander’s visit.

Meanwhile, the Commander also inspected the work in progress of the pre-school of international standard which is funded by the SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit. He also inspected the preliminary stages of the proposed “remote controlled model club” which will enable enthusiasts to participate in remote controlled flying, wind sailing, motor boating and racing.
