Air Force Conquer Division II Women’s Cricket

Excellent bowling  by SLAF Women’s Cricketers ensured them a massive seven wicket win in the Division II Finals against Seenigama Sports Club at Moors Grounds yesterday afternoon.

The ladies from Seenigama who batted first  faced a fantastic bowling attack were  bowled out for a paltry 115 runs. Sanduni Abeywickrama did the most damage to the Seenigama line up, hauling 4 wickets for 18 runs. Oshadi Ranasinghe too had excellent  figures giving just 16 runs for 3 much needed wickets. In addition Chamari Polgampala too picked up a wicket.

Seenigama batting scores were led by H. Gallage with 38 runs, followed by M.A.A. Sanjeewani and B.Y.A Mendis with 29 and 14 runs respectively.

 Chamari Athapaththu of SLAF scored 59 not out, ably assisted by Sanduni Abeywickrama who was not out on 30 runs, excelling in both the batting and bowling departments.

 M.S.G Maduwage and D.H.S Kumari picked up a wicket each for Seenigama bowling, making the air women reach their target of 119 very comfortably, and losing just three wickets.
