The traditional Handing Over/ Taking Over Parade of SLAF Base Vavuniya took place today (14 December 2020) where the outgoing Base Commander, Air Commodore LC Dissanayake RWP and Bar, RSP and Three Bars, MSc (MOA), MSc (Strat Stu), Pg Dip (Def Mgt), BSc (Def Stu), fawc, psc handed over command to Air Commodore SDGM Silva WWV, RSP, USP, MSc (Mil Stu), MSc (Strat Stu), BSc (Def Stu), Pg Dip (IR), fawc, psc. Air Commodore LC Dissanayake will subsequently take over duties as Base Commander of SLAF Base Ratmalana.

During the parade, the outgoing Base Commander addressed the Base and conveyed his sincere gratitude for all personnel for the support extended to him during his tenure as the Base Commander. The new Base Commander, Air Commodore Silva held the appointment of Head of Training Team at the Air Wing, Defence Services Command and Staff College, Sapugaskanda before being appointed to command SLAF Base Vavuniya.
