AEW, GEW AND MTR&OW OF SLAF KATUNAYAKE CELEBRATE 42ND ANNIVERSARY

The Aircraft Engineering Wing (AEW), General Engineering Wing (GEW) and Mechanical Transport Repair and Overhaul Wing (MTR&OW) celebrated their 42nd anniversary on 1st January 2021. All Officers and Other Ranks celebrated the milestone with a friendly cricket encounter among the participating formation personnel. Air Vice Marshal Udeni Rajapaksha, Base Commander of SLAF Base Katunayake graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
Air Commodore Sujeewan Senaratne, Commanding Officer of AEW address all Officers and Other Ranks present as the senior most Engineering Officer of all formations.
The AEW, GEW and MTR&OW were established on the 1st of January 1979 at SLAF Base Katunayake. The AEW is presently commanded by Air Commodore Sujeewan Senaratne. GEW by Group Captain Prasanga Martino and the MTR&OW by Group Captain Cheshan Rajapaksha.
In addition a Blood Donation Program was also organized on the 1 January 2021 in parallel with anniversary celebrations at SLAF Base Katunayake. The program was successfully concluded with participation of over 100 donors. This program was organized in coordination with District General Hospital Gampaha.
