SLAF Conducted Helicopter Recce To Assess Flood Damage and Assistance

Sri Lanka Air Force conducted  recce missions to support on going relief operations by assesing damage and also seeking out areas and people who needed assistance most. Neglecting the prevailing weather conditions, a Bell 212 helicopter was air borne from SLAF Base Katunayaka to perform the recce mission for the damage assessment and flood relief.

The Heli flew low over the generally flood affected areas such as Kadawatha,kolonnawa,Kelaniya,Orugodawatta, Dematagoda,Maligawatta, Panchicawatta, Maradana, Borella, Kaduwela, parliament area, Nawala, Koswatta, Battaramulla, Pelawatta, Meegoda, Dehiwala,Nugegoda, Ratmalana, Aththidiya and Boralesgamuwa.

The details, visuals and the videos taken from the air were provided to relief agencies to expedite relief and urgent support. Furthermore,  the SLAF will continue these missions as required.
