SLAF HANDS OVER TWO (02) HEATED HUMIDIFIED OXYGEN THERAPY UNITS

The Sri Lanka Air Force handed over two (02) Heated Humidified Oxygen Therapy Units today (06 October 2021) to health authorities at Air Force Headquarters. The handing over was done by the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana. These two units will be used at the National Hospital in Kandy and at the Tellippalai Base Hospital in Jaffna. Dr. Prasad Gunasinghe, Medical Officer in Charge of the Planning Unit at the National Hospital in Kandy and Dr. Rajiv Nirmalasingam, Consultant Surgeon at the Tellippalai Base Hospital accepted the vital equipment on behalf of health authorities.

The Heated Humidified Oxygen Therapy Units were manufactured by the General Engineering Wing at Katunayake together with the electronical design which was done by the Electronics and Telecommunications Wing at Ratmalana. These units will be deployed to be used to treat patients with COVID-19. The handing over of an HHOT to the Tellippalai Base Hospital in Jaffna was coordinated by the Commanding Officer of SLAF Station Palaly, Group Captain HWR Chandima.

Today’s event was attended by the Director Health Services, Acting Director General Engineering, Commanding Officer of the General Engineering Wing at Katunayake and Technical Officers of the project.
