A LEADERSHIP AND SKILLS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME CONDUCTS FOR JUNIOR PREFECTS OF VISAKHA VIDYALAYA AT SLAF BASE RATMALANA

A full day ‘Leadership and Skills Development’ programme was conducted for the Junior Prefects of Visakha Vidyalaya, Colombo at SLAF Base Rathmalana on 25 June 2022 under the coordination by the Base Commander SLAF Base Ratmalana, Air Vice Marshal Nihal Jayasinghe.
On the instructions of the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana and under the supervision by the Chief of Staff, Air Vice Marshal Prasanna Payoe in response to a request made by Visakha Vidyalaya, the programme was conducted by Officers of the SLAF. The programme was commenced after the address by Commanding Officer No.27 Regiment Wing, SLAF Base Ratmalana, Wing Commander Suranga Senaviratne.
Students were educated on ‘Basic Leadership Theories and Leadership Qualities’, ‘Balance Life in Psychological aspect, ‘Mindfulness’, ‘Dining Ethics’, ‘Practical Leadership Evaluation and Development’ sessions through team spirit developing activities. The sessions were conducted by Wing Commander Jayarathna Amarasinghe, Wing Commander Dihan Fernando, Wing Commander Chandana Ekanayake, Wing Commander Menoka Hapuarachchi, Squadron Leader Lilangi Randeni and Flight Lieutenant Nimasha Kannangara.
46 Junior Prefects actively participated in the entire programme with great enthusiasm throughout the day. Also, students attended a field visit to Aeronautical Engineering Support Wing and Air Force Museum at the Base during this programme.
