DRILL INSTRUCTORS’ INSIGNIA, PACE STICKS, GUNNER INSTRUCTORS’ LANYARD AND CANE AWARDING CEREMONY

The ceremony of Badges and Pace sticks awarding for No.51 Airmen Drill Instructor Technique Course and No.08 Airwomen Drill Instructor Technique Course and Lanyard and Cane Awarding for No.60 Airmen and No.19 Airwomen Gunner Instructor Technique courses was held on 08 Jul 2022 at SLAF Combat Training School Diyatalawa.
The Deputy Chief of Staff, AVM MD Ratnayake graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The Commanding Officer Air Commodore PSN Fernando, the Officer Commanding Training, Wing Commander NAI De Silva, all Officers and Instructors were present at the occasion.
Leading Aircraftwoman Madushani MGW was adjudged as the Best All Round Drill Instructor of the course while Leading Aircraftman Rajapaksha RWWDS was secured as the Best All Round Gunner Instructor of the course.
A total of thirteen (13) Airmen and two (2) Airwomen qualified to receive the distinctive Drill Instructor’s insignia and Pace Stick during the graduation ceremony and thirty three (33) Airmen and six (6) Airwomen were qualified to receive the distinctive lanyard and the cane during the ceremony. The Chief Guest addressed the new instructors and congratulated them on the successful completion of the course. He further emphasized that through the hard work and dedicated training they could reach an important miles stone in their careers and all the instructors are required to extend their maximum potentials for the betterment of the organization.
