PARACHUTE TRAINING SCHOOL AT SLAF STATION AMPARA CELEBRATES 20TH ANNIVERSARY

Parachute Training School, SLAF Station Ampara celebrated its 20th Anniversary yesterday (15 July 2022). Initially the Parachute Training School was established on 15th July 2002 at SLAF Base Katunayake in view of conducting Basic and Advanced parachute training for Officers, Airmen / Airwomen of Sri Lanka Air Force, Sister Services and Special Task Force under the guidance of qualified instructors. Subsequently, Parachute Training School was shifted to SLAF Station Ampara on 10th May 2013 by enhancing the area of capabilities while adapting new tactical and technical know-how.

The formation day celebration commenced with the working parade addressed by the Commanding Officer, Wing Commander Vijitha Gomis while appreciating the dedication and active contribution rendered by former Commanding Officers and Instructors for the development of Parachute Training School during last 20 years.

In commemoration of the Anniversary, a Shramadana Campaign followed by an alms giving for ‘Sarana’ Special Needs School, Uhana was organized on 14th July 2022. A Blood Donation Campaign was also conducted together with Base Hospital Ampara and National Blood Transfusion Service on 15th July 2022 at Station Hospital premises. The Anniversary celebrations concluded with a friendly Cricket Tournament with the participation of Officers, Instructors and Trainees at the Station Sports Ground. Commanding Officer SLAF Station Ampara, Group Captain Nishantha Priyadarshana graced the occasion as the Chief Guest for awarding of trophies.

The parachute Training School will continue its dedicated service to Sri Lanka Air Force to meet the future operational challenges whilst striving to achieve its vision and mission.
