NEW OFFICERS’ LIVING/IN ACCOMMODATION BLOCK DECLARED OPEN BY THE COMMANDER OF THE AIR FORCE

The Commander of the Sri Lanka Air Force, Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana declared open a newly constructed Officers’ Accommodation Block at SLAF Station Katukurunda yesterday (03 September 2022).
This project marked the fulfilment of a long-stood requirement at SLAF Station Katukurunda which was well progressed up until its completion by the Commanding Officer, Group Captain Asitha Hettiarachchi. The newly constructed Officers’ Accommodation Block consists of twelve rooms which enhance the accommodating capability of the Officers’ Mess Katukurunda. The project was completed under the supervision of the Directorate of Civil Engineering through the Air Field Construction Wing at SLAF Base Ratmalana.
The Commander was taken on a tour of the Aeronautical Research and Development Wing where he was briefed on the present progress of the ongoing research projects being progressed by the Wing. In addition, the Commander visited the newly raised Agro Farm of the station which was commenced and is currently supervised by the Commanding Officer.
The Commander interviewed a cross-section of service and civil personnel randomly aspiring to scrutinize the matters on welfare, working environment, infrastructure facilities and quality of life before completion of the formal visit.
