The Inter Unit Chess Championship 2022 was conducted, its second iteration for two (02) days at SLAF Trade Training School Ekala commencing from 28th November 2022 after a lapse of 03 years since the tournaments were on hold due to the COVID 19 pandemic situation in the country. The awards ceremony was held at the sports arena at the same venue with the graceful presence of the Director Logistics, Air Commodore Nishantha Thilakasinghe as the Chief Guest.

Seventeen (17) teams along with more than 100 players participated for this years tournament and was judged by Arbiters from the Chess Federation of Sri Lanka. An Open Blitz 3+2 tournament was organized and 41 players participated for the event. SLAF Trade Training School Ekala claimed the Championships of the Men's whilst SLAF Station Bandaranaike International Airport emerged as Runners Up. Squadron Leader KMGL Jayasuriya from SLAF Base Ratmalana was awarded as the Best Player of the overall championship.

Commanding Officer SLAF Trade Training School Ekala, Group Captain Prasanka Martino, Chairman SLAF Chess, Group Captain Dammika Samarakoon, Members of the Air Force Sports Council and other invitees participated to witness the final session.
