The Defence Services Games’ Weightlifting Championship - 2022 was held yesterday (22 December 2022) at National Sports Complex - Polonnaruwa. The final session and awards ceremony was also took place at the same venue.

The SLAF Men’s Team secured the Runners-Up and the Air Force both male and female Weightlifters bagged 05 Gold, 6 Silver and 7 Bronze medals at the championship. In the presentation of special awards female weightlifter Coporal Gomas BDH recognized as the Best Lifter in Women’s Category. Meanwhile, Leading Aircraftman Jayasena URR established a new Sri Lankan record in Snatch - 139kg under 81kg Weight Category.

Commandant SLAF Academy China Bay, Air Commodore Deshapriya Silva graced the Ceremony as the Chief Guest. Members of the Defence Service Sports Board and other invitees participated to witness the final sessions.
