SLAF WOMEN WRESTLERS VICTORIOUS IN THE 74TH NATIONAL WRESTLING CHAMPIONSHIP 2023

The 74th National Wrestling Championship 2023 was held at Indoor Sport Stadium Torrington Colombo on 18 and 19 February 23. The SLAF Women Wrestlers emerged as Champions for the consecutive 6th occasion winning five Gold, five Silver and three Bronze medals. The SLAF Men’s team also secured the second runner up winning three Gold, three Silver and four Bronze medals. The SLAF Women Wrestlers remained as the only unbeaten squad during the National Wrestling Championship history.
A total of 20 reputed sports clubs including the armed forces and the police comprising with more than 300 wrestlers vied in the National Wrestling Championship this year under several weight categories. The finals and awarding ceremony was also held in the same venue and Chairman Sri Lanka Wrestling Federation Mr. Sarath Hewawitharana graced the event as the chief guest along with Chairman SLAF Wrestling, Air Commodore PE Gunawardena, Secretary SLAF Wrestling, Wing Commander WGND Wewakumbura and other services senior officers and officials from the federation.
