THE STATE VESAK CEREMONY COMMEMORATES THE NOBLE THEMAGULA OF THE LORD BUDDHA

The State Vesak Ceremony commemorating the 2567th year of Buddhist Era and the noble Themagula of the Lord Buddha was jointly organized by the Ministry of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs, the Department of Buddhist Affairs, Samantha Lanka Shashanarakshaka Mandalaya, and the District Secretariat of Puttalam. It was held in the evening on 4th May 2023 at Kebellewala Sri Rathnasiri Piriven Vihara in Chilaw under the patronage of the Most Venerable Mahanayake Theros of Three Chapters, with the participation of Venerable Maha Sanga and other religious dignitaries.
Representing the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sudrshana Pathirana, the Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Air Force, Air Vice Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa, Commanding Officer SLAF Station Palavi Group Captain Kolitha Weerasekara and Officers representing Directorate of Welfare attended to the event. The ceremony included various religious activities and cultural events to pay homage to the noble teachings of Lord Buddha and the heritage of the Buddhist civilization. It was a significant event that brought together the religious and cultural diversity of Sri Lanka in a spirit of harmony and unity.
