CHEMICAL, BIOLOGICAL, RADIOLOGICAL, NUCLEAR AND EXPLOSIVES (CBRNE) WING OF THE SLAF CONDUCTS A SPECIAL TRAINING AT NATIONAL HOSPITAL – COLOMBO

The Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosives (CBRNE) Wing of the Sri Lanka Air Force conducted a training exercise today (10 May 2023) in response to a request made by Deputy Director of the National Hospital -Colombo, Dr. Indika Jagoda to the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana. The exercise was held at the National Hospital premises and included members of the hospital's Accident Service.

The primary objective of the training exercise was to prepare for the event of a sudden chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and explosive attack and to safely transport patients by air or land in the shortest possible time while providing immediate treatment. Commanding Officer of the CBRNE Wing, Wing Commander Nilendra Perera, along with other officers and members of the Colombo National Hospital's Accident Service, participated in the event.
 
The exercise was carried out with a professional approach, ensuring that all participants were well-prepared to handle emergency situations and respond in a timely and effective manner. The collaboration between the Sri Lanka Air Force and the Colombo National Hospital highlights the importance of inter-operability and cooperation in emergency response situations.
