Sri Lanka Air Force shooters delivered a striking performance at this
year’s Carlton Hand Gun and Shot Gun Championship which was held at the
Tissamaharama range from 29th-30th January, 2011.
The contingent from SLAF was leading the points table in all events of the Hand gun category. AC Daminda Bandara nailed the first win for Air Force, becoming champion in the Standard (Male) event.
In the Men’s Open category, Air Force clinched both first and third place for AC Fernando and Sergeant Prasadika. The latter incidentally was also the overall female champion.
The winning streak of SLAF didn’t end with the individual events with the team of 4 pistol shooters emerging champs in the Open event. This also won SLAF the title of Overall Team Champion (Open).
Meanwhile the team from the Air Force which competed in the Standard Team event was placed third following a skilled performance.
