FALLEN WAR HEROES HONOURED AT NATIONAL WAR MEMORIAL BATTARAMULLA

The National War Heroes Commemoration Ceremony 2023 was convened at the War Heroes Memorial at Battaramulla this morning (19 May 2023) for the 14th consecutive time, under the patronage of the President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, Hon. Ranil Wickremasinghe.
During the ceremony, the President paid homage to the supreme sacrifice made by the Tri-Service and Police personnel by offering floral tributes at the memorial. The event was attended by the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana, Prime Minister, Hon. Dinesh Gunawardena, Speaker, Hon. Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena, Leader of the Opposition, Hon. Sajith Premadasa, Minister of Public Security, Hon. Tiran Alas, State Minister of Defence, Hon. Premita Bandara Thennakoon, other ministers, Senior Advisor to the President on National Security and Chief of Presidential Staff, Hon. Sagala Ratnayake, Defence Secretary, Director General of the Civil Security Department, Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka, Admiral of the Fleet Wasantha Karannagoda, Marshal of the Air Force Roshan Gunathilake, Commanders of the Army and Navy, Inspector General of Police, war heroes and fallen war heroes’ families including the beloved spouse of Wing Commander TDS Silvapulle, the only son of the SLAF who is decorated with Parama Weera Vibushanaya(PWV), who followed suit.
The solemn event served to commemorate and honor the memory of the valiant war heroes who sacrificed their lives to defend the nation's sovereignty and territorial integrity, reminding the priceless value of the unparalleled service and unwavering commitment to the country.
