A Fitness Information Management System (FIMS) in SLAF has been officially launched today  (22 November 2023) by the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa at the Sports Division during the Annual Commander’s Inspection at Sri Lanka Air Force Station Colombo.

The Director Sports Group Captain Samantha Weerasekara along with the IT Div/Commanding Officer No.1 IT Wing initiated the system under the directives of the Commander of the Air Force.

The FIMS will significantly enhance the SLAF’s ability to gather, process and analyze data related to the physical fitness and physical activities of service personnel effectively and efficiently. This will improve individuals’ well-being and performance towards achieving the goals of the organization.

At this launching stage, user entities are allowed to feed data manually to the system and the daily stored data will be recorded and saved in a database, and in subsequent stages the same will be integrated with other systems available in SLAF, such as the Physical Fitness Test (PFT) system, Medical Management System (MMS) and Medical Screening Test System (MSTS) to enhance the well-being of service personnel within the organization. As a future development of the system in Stage II, the FIMS will be upgraded to data auto feeding mechanism, integrated with compatible Smart Wearable Devices.

The access to the FIMS trial version will be provided to the SLAF personnel under the internet link (URL) fims.airforce.lk with effect from 22 November 2023.
