COMMANDER’S INSPECTION AT SLAF STATION COLOMBO

The Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Udeni Rajapksa conducted the Commander’s Inspection of SLAF Station Colombo today (22 November 2023).
 
The Commander was welcomed by the Acting Commanding Officer SLAF Station Colombo, Air Vice Marshal Chaminda Wickremaratne after which a Ceremonial Guard of Honour was accorded to the Commander.  One Junior Non Commissioned Officer and one Senior Non Commissioned Officers received commendations from the Commander in recognition of their meritorious service to the SLAF. Their names are as follows.

Corporal Manoj WDIA  (Operations Ground II)

On the occasion of the Annual Commander’s Inspection at Sri Lanka Air Force Station Colombo, the Commander, undertook a comprehensive inspection of SLAF Station Colombo. Upon arrival, the Acting Commanding Officer extended a warm welcome to the Commander, marked by a Ceremonial Street Lining.

During the inspection, the Commander visited various sections of the Station, including but not limited to the Sports Division, Procurement Division, Riffle Green Pub and Airmen and Airwomen accommodations. Subsequently, the Commander proceeded to SLAF Guwanpura, where an inspection of the SLAF Hospital, MT Complex, Welfare Shop, and the Married Quarter Complex took place.

Continuing the inspection itinerary, the Commander visited the Air Force Health Management Centre before arriving at the AFHQ Officers’ Mess in Thummulla. Following these engagements, the Commander proceeded to the Officers' Married Quarters Complex at Kollupitiya. In concluding the inspection, the Commander participated in the customary All Ranks Lunch at the Airmen’s Mess, joining Officers, Airmen, Airwomen and Civilian Staff.

Before concluding this year’s inspection, the Commander delivered an address to all service and civilian personnel at the AFHQ and SLAF Station Colombo. The commander highlighted that the relocation of AFHQ to the new Defence Headquarters in Akuregoda will begin in the first week of the upcoming month.
Emphasizing the need for collaboration with personnel from sister services after the move, he stressed the importance of maintaining personal discipline and pride as members of the Sri Lanka Air Force. In conclusion, the Commander commended the Commanding Officer and their team for diligently preparing the station to meet the standards required for the Commander's Inspection.
