NO. 9 ATTACK HELICOPTER SQUADRON CELEBRATES 28TH ANNIVERSARY

The No. 9 Attack Helicopter Squadron at SLAF Base Hingurakgoda celebrated its 28th anniversary yesterday (24 November 2023).
Marking the event, a traditional working parade was held at the Squadron premises which was reviewed by the Commanding Officer, Wing Commander PS Liyanarachchi followed by the address to the officers and other ranks of the squadron. The Commanding Officer extended his gratitude to all the fallen heroes, disabled personnel and MIA personnel and their families who made their supreme sacrifice to the nation.
Subsequently customary commemoration parade was held at the squadron monument to pay proud respect to the squadron’s fallen war heroes by paying floral tributes. In addition, a sport event was organized in participation of all hangar personnel and civilian staff. The Acting Base Commander SLAF Base Hingurakgoda, Group Captain MMA Mendis participated in the event as the chief guest. In parallel to the 28th-anniversary celebrations, a Pirith chanting ceremony and almsgiving have been planned for 28 and 29 November 2023 with the participation of the beloved families of the deceased and Missing in Action personnel who served in No. 9 and No. 7 Squadrons.
