SLAF WINS SILVER AWARD IN BEST ANNUAL REPORT AND ACCOUNTS AWARDS CEREMONY 2023

The Association of Public Finance Accountants (Public Sector Wing of Chartered Accountants) of Sri Lanka (APFASL) showcased the peak of financial reporting excellence in the public sector with the announcement of the winners for the seventh annual Best Annual Report & Accounts (BARA) awards competition which was held at BMICH on 04 December 2023.
This year's competition, based on the financial accounts of 2022, received an overwhelming response, with a record-breaking 238 entries. The BARA Awards, the flagship event organized by APFASL (Public Sector Wing CASL), aims to promote and uphold financial accounting and reporting standards in Sri Lanka, contributing to the enhancement of the overall quality of public financial management in the country.
The competition featured twelve categories covering both central government and local government institutions. Evaluation criteria included adherence to Ministry of Finance circulars related to financial account preparation and presentation, as well as compliance with Sri Lanka Public Sector Accounting standards.

The Sri Lanka Air Force secured the Silver Award for the Annual Report and Accounts (BARA) in the public sector for the financial year 2022. The event was graced by the presence of Mr. Niel Asoka Ranjith, Secretary to the Ministry of Public Administration, Home Affairs.
Key representatives from the SLAF, including the Director Internal Auditor (Service), Group Captain Ranjith Somathilake, and Assistant Staff Officers Internal Audit III, were present.
On behalf of the Sri Lanka Air Force, the Director Internal Auditor (Service), Group Captain Ranjith Somathilake, along with Assistant Staff Officer Internal Audit III, received the award. The award was later presented to the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa yesterday (06 December 2023), by Group Captain Ranjith Somathilake and his staff at the Commander’s Office.
