28TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION OF NO 10 FIGHTER SQUADRON

The No 10 Fighter Squadron, renowned as the "Lion Cubs," celebrated its 28th anniversary yesterday (05 January 2024). The day commenced with a Working Parade, presided over by Wing Commander WMTGPS Wijekoon, the Commanding Officer, at the hangar premises.

In addressing squadron personnel, Wing Commander Wijekoon reflected on the illustrious history of the squadron and acknowledged the noteworthy contributions of past members throughout the 28-year journey. Emphasis was placed on sustaining high standards across all facets as a Fighter Squadron.

A blood donation campaign took place at SLAF Base Katunayake, commemorating air warriors who made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation's freedom. This initiative fostered community engagement, uniting both squadron members and civilians in a collective effort to support public health. The active participation in blood donation demonstrated the squadron's commitment to the well-being of the broader community, aligning with community service responsibility principles. The campaign witnessed a substantial turnout, highlighting the squadron's adeptness at mobilizing resources and engaging the community in a positive cause.

In its genesis, the No 10 Fighter Squadron was reinforced with four pilots, four engineering officers, and seventy technicians, all rigorously trained by IAI technical experts and instructor pilots from Israel.In the course of humanitarian endeavors, the No. 10 Kfir Squadron emerged as a distinguished force within the Air Force, playing a pivotal role in liberating the island from the clutches of terrorism. The unwavering dedication of both air and ground personnel has positioned the No 10 Fighter Squadron highest standards. This commitment ensures the Air Force ensign soars high, symbolizing the squadron's ongoing contribution to national security.

The No 10 Fighter Squadron embarks on a transformative journey, signaling a new era as it progresses from the C2 and C7 variants to the technologically advanced C12 versions. In the imminent future, Sri Lankan skies will witness the introduction of more sophisticated and cutting-edge Kfir aircraft, symbolizing the squadron's commitment to staying at the forefront of aviation technology.
