Oldest Living SLAF Officer Felicitated

The very first Director Administration of the Royal Ceylon Air Force  Gp Capt PG Walpita (01010) was felicitated on his 95th birthday. A formal lunch was organized at the Officers Mess Colombo recently.

Retired Commander of the Air Force, Air Chief Marshal Paddy Mendis, the first Director Electronics Engineering; Gp Capt HAD Ranasinghe and the current Director Admininistration Air Vice Marshal Rohitha Ranasinghe also attended the function.

Group Captain Walpita joined the Royal Ceylon Air Force as a direct entrant officer on 4th April 1952 and retired on 1st of November 1970 after an illustrious career of 18 years. He was the second officer to join the Air Force with a University degree (BSc in Physics).
