SLAF Archers Aims High

The Sri Lanka Air Force men and women displayed their talents with five
national records in the Archery World Championship’s Selection trials
which was held at Sugathadasa Outdoor stadium on 08th, 09th and 11th
May 2011.
Both SLAF participants Nipuna Seneviratna and Dilhara Salgadu scored 1233, 1248,1264 and 1288, 1270 1260 respectively in three days. They had to score 1230 points to qualify for the World standard level to take part in the next World championship which will be held in Italy.
During the selection trials, Air woman Dilhara Salgadu created 05 National records in the 70m, 60m 50m and 30m in the ‘FITA’ event. She surpasses her own record in 70m, 50m and 30m events whilst in the 60 m event she surpassed the record previously held by Dulidu Silva of the Colombo Archery Club.
The new records are as follows
70M - 315 points (Previous record – 308 points)
60M - 318 points (Previous record – 309 points)
50M - 327 points (Previous record – 312 points)
30M - 339 points (Previous record – 338 points)
FITA Record - 1288 points (Previous record – 1249 points)
