A COMPREHENSIVE TWO-DAY WORKSHOP ON SPORTS MANAGEMENT AND ADMINISTRATION FOR SPORTS STAKEHOLDERS

The Air Force Sports Council organized a two-day Sports Management and Administration workshop, led under the guidance of the President of the Air Force Sports Council, Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa and coordinated by the Secretary of the Air Force Sports Council, Group Captain Eranda Geeganage. The workshop, designed to elevate the strategic direction of SLAF sports programmes, gathered sports managers, coaches, Secretaries and Assistant Secretaries from SLAF’s 39 sports disciplines. Addressing modern challenges in sports administration, the sessions emphasized a macro-level approach, adapted to meet the evolving landscape shaped by societal shifts and the post-COVID-19 era’s global disturbances.
The workshop commenced on 22 October 2024 with a dedicated session for SLAF sports managers and coaches. Further, today (28 October 2024) marked the second day of the program, focusing on Secretaries and Assistant Secretaries responsible for managing SLAF sports disciplines. This programme centered on player development, training support and effective management practices. Attendees participated in discussions, group activities and lectures on aligning training programmes with organizational goals, optimizing athlete performance and enhancing motivation.
The two-day workshop was led by Mr. BLH Perera, the Director of Academic Programmes at the National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka, Programme Director of the International Olympic Committee’s Advanced Sport Management Courses in Sri Lanka and National Course Director for the Olympic Solidarity Sport Administration Course, alongside facilitator Ms. Eranga Krishanthi Fernando. They guided participants through sessions on partnership building and strategies for sports development, encouraging collaboration and growth in SLAF’s sports management approach.
