INAUGURAL ANNUAL RESEARCH SYMPOSIUM (ARS) -2024 HELD AT SLAF ACADEMY CHINA BAY

Annual Research Symposium (ARS) -2024, an academic forum organized by the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) Academy China Bay, was successfully held at the Ground Training Wing (GTW) Auditorium, Sri Lanka Air Force Academy China Bay today (27 November 2024), attended by intellectuals, SLAF researchers, military leaders and Air Force officers.
Under the guidance of the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa, the Annual Research Symposium 2024 embraced the theme, “Effective and Efficient Air Force Through Indigenous Solutions”. The symposium highlighted the SLAF’s resolve to harness local ingenuity and talent, laying a solid foundation for a sustainable and highly capable Air Force in the future.
The Annual Research Symposium (ARS) -2024 was comprised under the following sub themes; Technological Advancements and Innovations, Sustainable and Self-Reliant Defence Manufacturing and Training and Human Resource Development.
Under the supervision of the Director General Training, Air Vice Marshal Deshapriya Silva, the Annual Research Symposium 2024 (ARS 2024) was officially inaugurated by the Acting Commandant, Group Captain Asela Kuruvita.
The event was graced by the presence of the former Director General and Chief Executive of the Arthur C Clarke Institute for Modern Technologies and a distinguished Chartered Engineer specializing in Electronic and Telecommunication Engineering Eng. (Dr.) Sanath Panawennage as the Chief Guest. Furthermore, the Director of Aeronautical Ground Support & Armament and Director of Quality Assurance of the SLAF, Air Commodore CJ Hettiarachchi, delivered the inspiring keynote address.
ARS 2024 featured research contributions from a diverse range of professionals within the Sri Lanka Air Force, including those from flying formations, information technology and engineering. The event was further attended by the presence of representatives of the Naval & Maritime Academy, Army School of Logistics, Students of Junior Command and Staff College SLAF Academy China Bay and many other SLAF officers.
