
SLAF AND SRILANKAN AIRLINES SIGN LANDMARK TRAINING AGREEMENT

The SLAF and SriLankan Airlines Limited have entered into a partnership today (18 March 2025) by signing an agreement aimed at enhancing aviation training services. The agreement was signed at Air Force Headquarters, marking a significant step in strengthening collaboration between the two organizations.
The Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe, signed the MOU on behalf of SLAF, while the Chief Technical Officer and Head of Flight Operations of SriLankan Airlines, Mr. Patrick Fernando represented the airline. Also representing SLAF were the Director General Aeronautical Engineering, Air Vice Marshal Gihan Seneviratne and the Director Quality Assurance, Air Commodore Chandimal Hettiarachchi. SriLankan Airlines was further represented by Head of Engineering, Mr. Vipul Mishra and the Deputy General Manager of SriLankan Aviation College, Mr. Kalinga Hiranya. The occasion was also attended by the Chief of Staff of the Air Force, Air Vice Marshal Lasitha Sumanaweera.
The agreement will facilitate practical training for aircraft maintenance courses at the SLAF hangar facility in Katunayake, ensuring that SriLankan Airlines’ trainees receive hands-on experience in an industry-standard environment.
Under the agreement, Sri Lanka Air Force will provide training services that meet international regulatory standards, while SriLankan Airlines will qualify SLAF personnel as instructors and assessors. The partnership is expected to contribute significantly to the development of skilled aviation professionals in the country.
