SLAF Rugerittes Defeat the Police

Sri Lanka Air Force Rugerittes defeated the Police team comprehensively today (05th August 2011) by 40 points to 18 in front of their home ground, Police Park Thimbirigasyaya.
SLAF players displayed a good talent from the beginning until the end and took an early lead scoring 20 points against the Police’s 10 points. Radhika Hettiarachchi of the SLAF scored two penalties, one goal and converted Chanaka Chandimal’s try as well. For police, Harshana Wijeweera scored a penalty and converted Priyantha Ekanayaka’s try.
Continuing good sportsmanship SLAF once again made inroads into the police defence, again scoring 20 points with four tries whilst the police managed to score only 8 points. In the second half Harshana Wijeweera scored a penalty and Gayan Fernando scored a try for the home team and Mithun Hapugoda, Pradeep Kurukulasooriya scored one try each whilst Sasanka Ariyarathna scored two.
At the final whistle, SLAF marked their victory with a good margin.
Deputy Director Ground Operation Air Commodore Lal Perera, Chairman SLAF Rugger and the Commanding Officer SLAF Colombo Air Commodore Vijitha Gunaratna, Command Sports Officer Air Commodore Harsha Fernando and Secretary SLAF Rugger Wing Commander Deepthi Ravihansa were present at the ground witnessing the SLAF victory.
