The fundraising raffle draw for the SLAF Care Home project was successfully held today  (24 February 2026) at Air Force Headquarters. The event, organized by Directorate of Welfare, supported the establishment of a specialized care facility dedicated to ensuring that retired Air Force personnel receive the support and comfort they rightfully deserve in recognition of their service to the nation. 

The event was graced by the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe as the chief guest. Also present were the Deputy Chief of Staff, Air Vice Marshal Gihan Seneviratne, members of the Air Force Board of Management and other distinguished guests. 

The raffle draw was conducted in three stages, generating significant excitement among the attendees. The Director General Planning, Air Vice Marshal Deshapriya Silva initiated the first stage by selecting 10 winners, each receiving a cash price of One Hundred Thousand Rupees (Rs.100,000.00). This was followed by the Deputy Chief of Staff, Air Vice Marshal Gihan Senevirathna who drew another 10 winners for the same prize. Finally, the Chief Guest, Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe, selected the winners of the top three prizes. The third prize of Five Hundred Thousand Rupees (Rs.500,000.00) was received by Sergeant Adikari AMIH from SLAF Base Anuradhapura the second prize of Seven Hundred Fifty Thousand Rupees (Rs.750,000.00) went to Flight Sergeant Jayarathne LDP from SLAF Station Sri Jayewardenepura and the grand prize of One Million Rupees (Rs.1,000,000.00) was won by Squadron Leader HMTND Herath from SLAF Station Sri Jayewardenepura. The proceedings officially concluded after the results were finalized and validated by a panel of judges, ensuring the transparency and credibility of the raffle draw.
