COMMANDER OF THE AIR FORCE REVIEWS PROGRESS OF COLOMBO CENTRAL BUS STAND RENOVATION PROJECT
The Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe, visited the Colombo Central Bus Stand, Pettah, today (08 July 2026) to review the progress of the ongoing renovation project being carried out under the Clean Sri Lanka programme.
During the visit, the Commander conducted a comprehensive inspection of the project site to assess the progress of the renovation works and to ensure that all construction activities are being carried out in accordance with the prescribed standards of quality and efficiency.
The inspection covered several key components of the project, including the construction and refurbishment of the service centre, the solid waste management facility and staff accommodation areas, together with other infrastructure improvements currently underway within the premises. The Commander also reviewed the progress of the associated civil engineering works aimed at enhancing the functionality, cleanliness and overall environment of the country’s busiest public transport hub.

He further stressed that every aspect of the project should reflect professionalism, accountability and sustainability, in line with the objectives of the Clean Sri Lanka programme, which seeks to create cleaner, safer and more efficient public spaces for the benefit of the public.
