RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT WING SLAF BASE KATUNAYAKE CELEBRATES 11TH ANNIVERSARY
The Research and Development Wing at SLAF Base Katunayake celebrated 11th anniversary yesterday (05 August 2026) marking a significant milestone in surpassing a decade-long journey of progress. With established in 2015, the Wing has consistently spearheaded initiatives aimed at enhancing the research and development capabilities of SLAF.
Over the past eleven years, the Wing has played a significant role in improving the operational efficiency of the SLAF through numerous successful research projects. These endeavors have made substantial contributions to the technological advancement and self-reliance of the Air Force.
The anniversary celebration comprised with the customary working parade, a tree-planting event and a friendly volleyball tournament which was held at the Hut Area in the Base.
In the lead-up to the main celebration, an almsgiving campaign was conducted on 04 August 2026 at the Anandapura Orphanage, Katana. The event was successfully organized with the dedicated support and active participation of the Officers and all other ranks of the Wing.
