SLAF Officers & SNCOs in Haiti train as ‘Air Liaison Officers’

The ‘Air Liaison Officer’ training program was conducted for Sri Lankan Armed Forces Officers and Senior Non Commissioned Officers who are performing duties at Haiti.
This was initiated by the Deputy Chief Aviation Officer Lieutenant Colonel Juan Copetti and Chief Project Planning and Training Unit Mr. John Cassidy of the Aviation Section of the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti. The training was conducted from 28th September 2011 to 30th September 2011 at Sri Lankan Battalion camp at Jacmel Haiti.
The training program included weather reporting, helicopter landing site selection, helicopter landing site security, casualty evacuation operations, communication procedures, fire fighting and emergency procedures of United nations Aircraft. .
Wing Commander Ruwan Jayasinghe Officer Commanding SLAF contingent in Haiti coordinated the course whilst Squadron leader Buddhika Karunanayake, six Air Force SNCOs and officers from Army and Navy participated for the course.
