SLAF Fire Fighters Carry Out Fire Evacuation Drill

Sri Lanka Air Force Fire Fighters carried out a fire evacuation drill at the SLAF Headquarters on 8th October 2011.

This exercise was conducted to familiarize the service personnel employed in the building how to evacuate without any delay in order  to minimize the damage which could occur.

During the exercise personnel inside the building were evacuated using three processes which would be used according to the situation and the height from which the evacuation is to be done.  First using safety rope rescue system personnel were evacuated from the helipad on top of the 12 floor building.

Then the Skylift Bronco (Fire vehicle Aerial Ladder system) came in to action with its extended arm to reach the top floors to evacuate people. The personnel in the lower floors were  afforded a smooth landing  by use of  the ‘jumping sheet’ which was placed on the ground.

Sri Lanka Air Force stands as the sole gallant aerial force in the nation, skillfully projecting airpower over its airspace and supporting the operations of surface entities.
