Second Rescue & Relief Contingent Fly on SLAF C 130 to Nepal to Assist Earthquake Victims

The second section of the emergency rescue and relief contingent aboard an SLAF flight, left the Colombo Bandaranaike International Airport for the earthquake-stricken Nepal this morning (02 March 15) to assist ongoing rescue and relief operations in Kathmandu.

Captain of the Aircraft Sqn Ldr VGP Mahanama and Co-pilot Wg Cmdr DKM Krishantha said that the SLAF C-130 aircraft will land at Katmandu around 1600 hrs.  These two experienced pilots piloted the first ever Air craft flown to Kathmandu that landed on 27th April 2015.

The C-130 is expected to transport a number of Sri Lankans stranded in Nepal due to the earth quake, on its return journey.
