The Opening Address of No. 49 Junior Command and Staff Course
The No. 49 Junior Commanders’
Course commenced on 24th August 2015 at the Junior Command and Staff
College at Sri Lanka Air Force Academy China Bay. The Opening Address
was conducted by the Commanding Officer Air Commodore JP Wanigathunga at
the Junior Command and Staff College auditorium at 1600 hrs on 24th
August 2015.
The Junior Command and Staff College was established in 1999 with the aim of developing the professional and managerial knowledge of Officers in the rank of Squadron Leader and below in order to prepare them to hold staff appointments.
A total of 16 Sri Lanka Air Force Officers in the rank of Squadron Leader and Flight Lieutenant, 02 Officers from the Army in the rank of Captain, 04 Officers from the Sri Lanka Navy in the rank of Lieutenant Commander and Lieutenant and 01 Squadron Leader from the Bangladesh Air Force are following the staff course for a duration of 14 weeks (24th August 2015 to 27th November 2015). Soon after the Opening Address, a self-introduction session by the student officers was conducted and subsequently the Directing Staff gave an overview of the expectation of the course to all the Student Officers.
