Progress of No. 77 JC&SC Course

LEADERSHIP ANALYSIS EXERCISE - NO 77 JC&SC

The student Officers of No. 77 Junior Command & Staff Course successfully completed a key exercise in their curriculum, the Leadership Analysis on 02 November 2024. This exercise required each Officer to analyze an assigned leader, develop a comprehensive written analysis and deliver a presentation based on their findings. This critical component of the course aimed to enhance their understanding of leadership dynamics and cultivate analytical and presentation skills essential for their roles.


VISIT TO THE EXPLOSIVE ORDNANCE DISPOSAL TRAINING SCHOOL AT THE SLAF STATION PALAVI BY JUNIOR COMMAND & STAFF COURSE NO. 77

On 26 October 2024, the student Officers of the No. 77 Junior Command & Staff Course visited the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Training School (EODTS) at SLAF Station Palavi. During the visit, they received a detailed briefing on various types of explosives and their applications, utilizing training aids and models presented by subject specialists. Additionally, the student Officers witnessed a live demonstration showcasing the detonation of different explosives under different applications.


INDUSTRIAL VISITS OF JUNIOR COMMAND & STAFF COURSE NO. 77


No. 77 Junior Command & Staff Course visited the Central Bank of Sri Lanka and Disaster Management Centre on 25 October 2024, completing their industrial visits as per the course calendar. Student Officers were briefed on each institution’s functions and significance, gaining insight into their vital roles in supporting the economy and national security.


HUMAN RIGHTS AND INTERNATIONAL HUMANITARIAN LAW AT UNIVERSITY OF COLOMBO – NO. 77 JC&SC

The student Officers of the No. 77 Junior Command and Staff Course successfully completed a comprehensive training program on Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law, hosted by the Centre for the Study of Human Rights at the University of Colombo. Commencing on 22 October 2024, the program was led by a distinguished panel of university scholars who provided comprehensive insight on critical human rights frameworks and humanitarian law principles, essential for contemporary military leadership. The program concluded with a certification awarding ceremony on 24 October 2024, where the Dean Faculty of Law, University of Colombo, attended as the guest of honour.


MANAGEMENT MODULE AT KDU - NO. 77 JC&SC

The Management module for student Officers of No. 77 Junior Command and Staff Course commenced on 30 September 2024 at the Faculty of Management, General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University. This module provided a rigorous introduction to fundamental management disciplines, including General Management, Marketing, Economics, Statistics, Geopolitics and Project Management. Furthermore, an intensive Research Methodology phase was incorporated to refine the Officers’ proficiency in conducting comprehensive research


INTERNATIONAL DAY – NO 77 JC&SC

The International Day of No. 77 Junior Command and Staff Course was held on 20 September 2024 at the Sri Lanka Air Force Academy China Bay. The event began with country presentations representing India, Zambia and Sri Lanka, offering a glimpse into the rich traditions and heritage of each nation. The Commanding Officer of No. 01 Flying Training Wing graced the occasion as the chief guest, accompanied by the Commanding Officers and Officers Commanding of other lodger formations at the academy. The program was further elevated by captivating traditional dance performances and cultural displays, showcasing the heritage beauty of each nation. The highlight of the day was an authentic culinary experience, where invitees were treated to the traditional dishes of each participating country making the event a truly memorable cultural exchange.

COURSE PICNIC OF NO 77 JC&SC

The No. 77 Junior Command and Staff Course held its course picnic on 25 September 2024 at Sober Island Resort, Trincomalee. This event, a key highlight in the course calendar, was attended by the Commanding Officer, Directing Staff and faculty members. The day featured a range of entertainment activities, including team-building games designed to foster camaraderie and enhance team spirit among the student Officers, providing them with an opportunity to unwind and enjoy the occasion in a relaxed atmosphere.


BOOK REVIEW EXERCISE - NO 77 JC&SC

The student Officers of No. 77 Junior Command and Staff Course successfully completed the 'Book Review' exercise on 24 September 2024. As part of this intellectually stimulating academic challenge, each Officer was assigned a randomly selected book to critically analyze. They were required to prepare a thorough written evaluation and deliver a presentation, all while adhering to the college's high academic standards. This exercise offered a valuable opportunity for the Officers to showcase their analytical expertise and presentation skills, demonstrating their intellectual depth and effective communication abilities.


PHYSICAL FITNESS TEST OF NO 77 JUNIOR COMMAND AND STAFF COURSE

The initial Physical Fitness Test for the No 77 Junior Command and Staff Course was held on 07 September 2024 at the Sri Lanka Air Force Academy, China Bay. This test was aimed at evaluating the physical capabilities of the student Officers and served as the first step towards their qualification for the “Best Sportsman” award. A total of 31 Officers participated in the event, marking an important milestone in their preparation for the competition ahead. This test plays a key role in assessing their fitness and overall readiness for the challenges to come.


ICE BREAKER EVENT OF THE 77TH JUNIOR COMMAND AND STAFF COURSE

The 77thJunior Command and Staff Course commenced with an “Ice Breaker” event on 03 September 2024 at the Officers' mess, Sri Lanka Air Force Academy China Bay. The event was graced by the presence of the acting Commandant, Group Captain HPAS Hewawasam, alongside the faculty members and other senior Officers of the Academy. This occasion presented a distinctive platform for the 31 student Officers to engage meaningfully with the senior leadership, exchange valuable insights and cultivate camaraderie as they embark on their professional journey through the course.
