No.3 Air Defence Radar Squadron celebrates fourth Formation Day

No 3 Air Defence Radar Squadron of the Sri Lanka Air Force commemorated its fourth anniversary on 01 February, 2011 at its home base, SLAF Academy, China Bay.

The commemorative activities held in lieu of the anniversary took the form of social responsibility with a health camp including a dental clinic for the villagers residing in Vellamanal, China Bay. All aspects of the clinic were organized by the squadron’s dedicated personnel.

The induction of Indra MK II radars to Sri Lanka Air Force as part of the National Air Defence System led to the formation of the squadron in 2007. Since its inception, the No. 3 Air Defence Squadron has played a vital role in the country’s Air Defence Network by providing air surveillance, early warning, close control of interceptor aircraft as well as assistance for navigation and rescue missions.

Sri Lanka Air Force stands as the sole gallant aerial force in the nation, skillfully projecting airpower over its airspace and supporting the operations of surface entities.
